Just a few things I’m very excited about! This year my reading has been all over the place. I have been trying my hardest to get through a lot of my backlist TBR and find a good balance of reading those and the new books I’m excited about. But this little upcoming book stack trumps my backlist TBR for the time being and I’ll be working my way through these in the next couple weeks! .

Has anyone ever stayed up all night reading? I used to accidentally do this all the time. I’m too old now. Haha. This year is the first year that I’ve started waking up at like 3 a.m. with my lamp still on and me slumped over the book I fell asleep reading. I never have any memory of falling asleep either. .

But I’ve still had those nights where I’ll glance over at the clock and feel the shock of it being like 5 a.m. and knowing that I’m going to hate my life that day. ha. What are some books that have kept you up late into the night? .

For this community, it’s pretty normal to have monthly reading goals— but now that I have a new reader we’ve been trying to come up with some fun ways to keep up enthusiasm while school is out. My daughter has had a reading log for years that we filled out as a family, but this is her first summer with her own. My girl loves to watch TV and we normally do our family reading together in the evening, so this summer she’s got to read in the day time on her own (or to me) to earn TV time. Between her reading log and the fun activities that the library has planned all summer, I’m hoping she’ll have some joyful reading experiences. .

We have been reading the Serafina series together to prepare for the new book (Serafina and the Seven Stars) that comes out in July. We did book one via audio from the library while we were in the car or coloring, and have started book two by reading aloud a few chapters at bed time. I’m not sure if we’ll finish the full series together by the end of summer, but we definitely will some time before the year is up.  box was waiting for me and last night was my first night back to reading physical books after trying to catch up on sleep from the trip. I immediately dove into my June BOTM pick, “Recursion”. “Dark Matter” is one of my favorite books ever and one that I am constantly recommending, so I didn’t even think twice of picking Blake Crouches latest. I’m only about 100 pages in, but I’m hooked so far. I can’t stop thinking about it. There is a “disease” that gives people false memories, as if they have lived two different lives. Between Barry Sutton, a police officer, and Helena Smith, a neuroscientist working on how to preserve memories—the two are trying to discover the force that is unmaking the world and attacking the fabric of the past. (I’ll put the synopsis in the comments since I haven’t done it any justice here) .

This book right here was my kind of T from the beginning. I was so entertained with it. The characters were well written and the story kept me turning the pages. HOWEVER, here is my problem with it, the ending was like 😢😑😑😖. Girrrrrrrlllll, im confused 😐 and I really don’t know what to say because why would an author ever end a book like that. It was so strong throughout the entire novel but the ending was so like meh. Like I was just like really? I wanted more and I didn’t get it. I’m really confused with it and I need some explanations. I guess the writer wanted the readers to just make their own conclusions and I didn’t like that. All in all, I was really really disappointed with it because in the back it was compared to Gone Girl and that is why I wanted to read it tbh. But it just fell to the ground. If you read this, what were your opinions on it? .

Heyyyyyyy Guys, these were the books I was reading these past few days and I have finished both. The Good Lord Bird was a funny, powerful, and emotional read with characters that were both entertaining and interesting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. And now for the best book I literally have read this year. Song of Achilles was a masterpiece it was really, really, really f-ing good. I would recommend this book to everyone in bookstagram if you have not read it already. So, during these days I read The Balcony by Jane Delury, and I got to say that I liked it a lot. This novel feels like a breath of fresh air when reading. I read it so slowly because I didn’t want it to end and I’m still going back to really catch every single detail of this novel. When reading this novel you will get that sense of a classic. And I love classics for real.

Heyyyyyyy Guys, this was the second novel I read this past weekend. And I got say that I wanted to really like this novel since the synopsis was popping. However, I did not fall in love with this book. I have to admit that I was having some problems while reading this one. It was a good story and all but I just could not relate. This was a twisted, haunting, and dark dark DARK book. It was just an OK book for me, it wasn’t boring but I felt weird about it. Overall, I was just was not feeling the gig honey. This was one of the books I finished this past weekend and I got to say that I really enjoyed this one. I’m shooked by This Book Guys. Truthfully, I started this book with my expectations really low. BUT, this book did deliver for me. I just could not put it down because it grabbed me from the beginning. It was full of drama and I love a book that just has really hot, exciting, and thrilling gossip and that is what this book gave to me. This book has a character that is unforgettable and that was the best part. Anna is one of those characters that you just fall in love with. Even though she was getting herself in a big mess I still was on her side. Her curiosity really made this story come together. This book really messed me up in the end though and I’m never going to forget telling my aunt the entire T about this book. All in all, this is a book that has a character that is just going to take you on a ride. If you get to read it you will laugh, get upset, and cry following Anna around London. I would recommend this book to readers that liked The Devil’s Wears Prada books.  If anyone gets the chance to read this book come chat with me.

Heyyyyyyy Guys, so as I was watching TV the other day and the trailer to Love, Simon came on and I was like. “Awww I NEED to get this book girl before the movie” so I got the book and I read it in one day. However, I have mix feelings towards this book. Don’t get me wrong I did like the story but I just didn’t feel a connection to it like I though I was. TBH I was expecting more out of it, and I hope the movie provides that for me. I think if it wasn’t a YA book and it had more details to it I would have liked it more, if that makes sense.
