I finally watched “Mismatched” on Netflix after I was gifted a copy of the film adaptation book cover of “When Dimple Met Rishi” from

. It showed up in the mail and I admit that I totally forgot the adaptation until I saw the book cover! I know it was released on Netflix India, but you’d think we’d have made a bigger fuss about it on Bookstagram when it released back in November!

I love all of Sandhya Menon’s books, but Dimple and Rishi are my favorites and their characters were great! Rohit Saraf plays Rishi and Prajakta Koli plays Dimple and they were so fun to watch. I have a new huge crush on Rohit Saraf for the wonderful way he brought Rishi to life (and for also being gorgeous and for having amazing hair). Also, it’s not a film! It was a six episode first season and I’m hoping that they bring it back for a second season. (So everyone go watch it so it has more views.) Now, I need to do a reread of the book because once I started watching I realized there were a few things I couldn’t remember being from the book or made up for the show!

Who is a side character that you’d like a full series for? Because I have “Shadow and Bone” on the brain, I’d love dedicated novels to The Darkling’s life, or even the Grisha trilogy from his POV.

Any “Iron Fey” fans already started “The Iron Raven”? (which is a continuation of the Iron Fey series, but with Puck as the main voice?) Thank you to

I love hearing backstory from different POVs and often wish authors would write them for my favorite books. Continuations always come with mixed feelings for me, but I always love the idea of returning to a world and characters I love with more information!

Stand alone or series? Do you have one you like better? Obviously both are great and have their place in my reading moods (and depending on type of plot), but I definitely love reaching for a series the best.

For that reason I am always excited when a standalone I loved gets a sequel I was not expecting. (For some reason if a series gets an addition after it’s complete I’m more skeptical and nervous) So I am super pumped for “Ready Player Two” because I really enjoyed the first book. (Thank you to

Truth is, I haven’t been hearing great reviews for RP2. I feel like RP1 was so well completed that if I like RP2 then bonus, but if it’s not great then it’ll be easy to pretend it doesn’t exist. haha. I was planning on diving right into this, but now I’m thinking I better do a RP1 reread first. I loved that book and it’s been awhile since I read it, so I think it’ll be a fun reread. I also feel like a reread will help me decide better on how I feel about RP2 when I read it.

This also reminds me that I never watched the RP1 film! I’m always behind in films so that’s no surprise. Maybe I’ll look that film up this weekend. If you’ve seen the film, did you like it?

Reading THE BOOKSHOP ON THE CORNER was a book-lovers read for sure. It hit all the lovely stereotypes you’ll find in many of the people who live and breathe books every day. Honestly, this book was such a delightful treat. This year I’ve been doing my best to read the books on my shelves that I have kept and never get around to reading for whatever reason. I’ve had this book for years and I don’t know why I waited. .

Nina is a literary matchmaker. She loves pairing people up with just the perfect book for them (honestly, I also get such a huge thrill when someone likes a book I’ve recommended) But after she’s been laid off of her job as a librarian, she’s has to leave her comfort zone. After buying a van, and filling it with books, Nina moves to a sleepy little village and sells books. As she comes to love the place and the people, she has a number of experiences that lead her to believe she could write her own Happily Ever After. .

As much as I love to read and get so much pleasure from stories, and as much of an ode to book lovers that this book is, it is also a story about living your life outside of fiction. I am generally always lost in a book. I’ve got audio on while I’m cleaning and am reading from books when I’m in bed... and this book just made me think that I should remember to unplug from fiction some times and live in my own life and mind some times. I love books for the escape, but some times you have to more actively be part of your own. .

If you’re a romance lover and a person who loves to read, I think you’ll find this one to be a fun and relatable read! And honestly, I’d just love the life Nina has! .

Do you tend to prefer your books serious or more lighthearted. I think we all prefer a mix, and every serious book needs something to lighten it and visa versa— but overall I tend to lean towards a book that will crush my heart or lead me to in-depth conversations on life. Haha. .

That being said, I sometimes just need FUN and these books are that. I was just gifted a copy of “No Country for Old Gnomes” from

, the sequel to “Kill the Farm Boy”, and am delighted and eager to start it. Full of puns and riffs from popular tropes, the most common comparison to these books I’ve seen is “Monty Python meets Terry Practchett. .

The delight I got from “Kill the Farm Boy” was the same kind of laugh I used to get from reading politically correct fairy tales. It’s absurd, quirky, over the top,  and so much fun. .

A little taste of what to expect: “Enter three witches. What they entered was not a race. It was, in fact, a cave of ominous portent, which was different from a regular cave in that it possessed spooky lighting concept. This was achieved by kindling a fire in the cave and then covering it with the black iron bottom of a cauldron, in which something eldritch may or may not be stewed. But let’s be real. No one ever bought a cauldron and installed it in a cave to make a mundane soup. It was always, always going to be an eldritch stew. Especially since they’d brought the requisite bucket full of entrails, pouches of herbs, and assorted dried eyeballs.” .

Honestly, when you’re in the mood for something like this, they really hit the spot for a good laugh and a fun way to poke a little  fun at stories we all really love! .

) and I spent awhile looking these women up and enjoying learning about their contribution and achievements in the world of film. I can’t wait to meet them through the work of Melanie Benjamin. I always feel forever grateful to the authors of historical fiction, for introducing me to parts of history I’m unfamiliar with, or helping me feel a deeper or closer connection to the past. I don’t often go looking up historical events until I’ve been introduced to it through a book. .

What are your favorite types of books to discuss? I love all kinds of book discussion, but I love the discussions where there are many differing or opposing views because the conversation is always better. These usually happen with more controversial or serious themed books (although I’ve gotten into some hilarious conversations about book crushes before! Haha) but those are the times that I learn so much about the world and the people around me. It really helps you gauge your own knowledge and beliefs.

I’ve kept meaning to have “The Project” read by now, but the last two weeks have been so crazy for me! (Thank you to

(I’m religious and she is not and our conversations have always been so good and interesting.) . I’ve given up on meeting my reading goal this year. I’m 13 books from meeting my goal of 100, and I anticipate only getting through 4 or 5 more books this month. I love reading for escape and education, but reading is also a luxury pastime that this year just didn’t always fit with my anxiety brain, home schooling, and shifting day time responsibilities I’d usually do while my daughter was at school to the evening when I usually had free time.

So I’ve tossed my goal aside and am celebrating the amazing books I’ve read this year and currently enjoying “Dragon Blood” by Mary Beesley. Dragons are always a good idea for me. . There are so many reasons not to go back in time, but I think I’d at least try to take a peek at Ancient Rome or Greece.

One of my many favorite things about the Peculiar book series is all the different locations and time periods. I admit that I wasn’t so sure about the series coming to the United States in “Map of Days”, but I ended up loving it and just being rocked by the new challenges presented with these characters!

I have been following this series closely since I discovered it on Bookstagram 7 years ago and read every book immediately at release. I think the concept of taking old photographs and writing stories around them was a very clever idea and added a whole different layer of enjoyment for me. It seems weird to finally be at the end now after these last several years, but I’m ready. Desolation comes out next week and I’m starting it this week now that I have a copy! Have you been following this series? It’s been one of my favorite series for being dark and unique!

I am TORN on this because there are so many books that I want to read and feel like I’ll never get to them just because of the amount of time it takes to read a book. , I was immediately grabbed by the comparison to Game of Thrones and Outlander. .

⚔️ The Game of Kings (book one) was released in 1961 and I’ve been intrigued not only by the synopsis, but the reviews. The new covers were reissued in oversize trade paperback this month, and I definitely love them. (Cover redesign is such a touchy topic, isn’t it? Haha. I actually love the original covers too) There are six books in all and I’m pretty pumped to try these out and return to Scotland in the 1500s. .

Happy Sunday! What are you reading this weekend? I’ve been listening to “Red, White, and Royal Blue” while doing some projects around the house and it’s been making laugh out loud! It’s exactly what I needed this weekend. I don’t know why I thought this was a YA romance, but it is definitely adult! *blushes*

This beauty, “Wings of Ebony”, was gifted to me by

 and I was immediately interested when I saw it was about gods and Demi-gods.There was a letter from the author, J. Elle, included with the book where she wrote about how this book was also about showing “the hood” in its true light. Not the way the media portrays it “but the heart, the hope, the ingenuity, the tenacity, the rich heritage, the close bonds, the places that birth hearts like Nipsey’s, wisdom like Pac’s, hustle like Jay Z’s, talent like Queen Bey’s”. She continued by writing “it was critical to me to speak to the pressure Black people from neighborhoods like mine face to minimize our lived experiences; I wanted the world to know where I come from and that I’m not ashamed. And I wanted to tie all that in with encouragement to a YA audience… that despite what the worlds narrative is, we are taking the pen and writing a new one.”

Her letter was powerful for me to read and I’m looking forward to reading this! Have you read it already?

After much consideration, I think I’d have to go with one of my sisters. .

“Ghosts of the Shadowmarket” released this week and since this set of stories follows Jem Carstairs  I am 100000% stoked for these. (Thank you to

 for gifting me a finished copy) While I love the Shadowhunter world for many reasons, there isn’t much that gets me more excited than Jem Carstairs or Jace Herondale. haha. (It might have been Will Herondale if I’d read TID first, but I fell for Jace first and he and Will are enough alike that I felt like I had my Herondale slot filled. Although Jem and Will are my favorite Parabatai pair by far) .

I know these stories were released digitally last year, but just like I did with the “Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy”, I was waiting for this baby to be released so I could just sit and read them all back to back. I’ve been trying very hard to limit my Shadowhunter editions to just one book each (exceptions made for anniversary editions and one set of graphic novels) and I’ve already surpassed an entire shelf and am ready to clear out a second shelf for the coming books! .

Follow Brother Zachariah and see, against the backdrop of the Shadow Market’s dark dealings and festive celebrations, Anna Lightwood’s first romance, Matthew Fairchild’s great sin and Tessa Gray plunged into a world war. One of my favorite parts of “Furyborn” was how Claire Legrand used contrast with characters and their titles. “Kingsbane” really takes the foundation that Legrand laid with her characters and starts building them towards an ending that we already knew would come to pass. Legrand really hits the sweet spot for me in the way she writes an unlikeable character. Eliana just isn’t my favorite character. I didn’t like her in Furyborn, and I don’t really like her now. But it doesn’t make me hate reading the book. I feel the same way about her that I felt about Lila Bard in ADSOM. I really dislike Lila, but I totally appreciated her role and character in the story. .

Watching the character arc for Rielle is so intriguing to me because I feel like she’s so relatable, so I’m just hooked on her story. I cannot wait to see what is in store for them in the final book! .

I also still classify this one firmly in the NA genre and recommend to anyone looking for a super fierce female lead fantasy. (Also, can I just say that I love the subtle way that Legrand flips gender roles that are so ingrained in me? The Queen’s guards are all female and Legrand never makes a big show of stating that. It comes up really only in pronouns and I SO appreciate the way she normalizes all the diversity in her books) .

Divergent. Did you love it or hate it? 😂 I love talking about Divergent because people have so many feelings on the series, myself included. Whenever someone tries to talk about it with me I’m like, “are you ready to board the Tris Rant Train?” ALL ABOARD!! 🚂😂

But man did these books define an era of YA and dystopian stories. I have really fun memories reading these books with two friends and then taking a night away from our babies (all under one years old at the time) to see the film together. This book right here was my kind of T from the beginning. I was so entertained with it. The characters were well written and the story kept me turning the pages. HOWEVER, here is my problem with it, the ending was like 😢😑😑😖. Girrrrrrrlllll, im confused 😐 and I really don’t know what to say because why would an author ever end a book like that. It was so strong throughout the entire novel but the ending was so like meh. Like I was just like really? I wanted more and I didn’t get it. I’m really confused with it and I need some explanations. I guess the writer wanted the readers to just make their own conclusions and I didn’t like that. All in all, I was really really disappointed with it because in the back it was compared to Gone Girl and that is why I wanted to read it tbh. But it just fell to the ground. If you read this, what were your opinions on it? .

Heyyyyyyy Guys, these were the books I was reading these past few days and I have finished both. The Good Lord Bird was a funny, powerful, and emotional read with characters that were both entertaining and interesting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. And now for the best book I literally have read this year. Song of Achilles was a masterpiece it was really, really, really f-ing good. I would recommend this book to everyone in bookstagram if you have not read it already. This was sooooo amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Also if you didn’t notice yet I also finished this puzzle which was 1000 pieces and I’m very proud 😂. All in all, have a great Tuesday from Books Tea .
