What were some of your favorite reads as a kid? I have so many! We used to live right across the street from the library and I used to go and spend hours there as a kid and have some really strong and good memories tied to books I came across on the shelves.

For the last couple of years I’ve been searching for books that really stood out to me as a kid and adding them to my shelves. I’ve been pretty successful in finding them at thrift stores and thrift book type websites with the original covers that I read them in as a kid, too! I’m getting pretty good at key word searches for the books I don’t remember titles to, and all in all, the ongoing search has been one of the most fun and rewarding part of my book collecting! (I didn’t even look at authors names until I was in high school, so the search is all based on parts of the story that stood out to me the strongest!)

I have finally collected all of the “Dealing with Dragons” books and was lucky enough to find all of them in with the original cover illustration, hardcover, and in really decent shape. (Most of them were old library copies and the library plastic kept them in really nice shape!) Now I can’t wait to reread them as an adult and see how my childhood memories of them compare to my adult reading of them! This is always the most fun part because I often misunderstood things as a kid, or themes sailed way over my head.

Are you planning on watching the Netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone this weekend or the preview event tonight? I admit that I’m pretty much a disorganized mess these days, but this is the one thing that I’ve kept firmly on my radar and calendar. haha.

One of my friends (Miranda, this is a test to see if you read my captions) and I have been texting a bit this week about Zoya’s character arc through all the Grisha books and how my feelings about her have evolved a lot! I’m enjoying her and Nina in the King of Scars duology.

If you could keep only three books  from your shelves, which books would you keep? I would keep my 1977 Folio Society Lord of the Rings, the Barnes and Noble leather-bound edition of The Chronicles of Narnia, and my UK first printing of Strange the Dreamer with the sprayed edges. (My choices are based on monetary value + sentimental value.)

I went on a book buying spree last month and all my books are trickling in right now. “The Library of Legends” by Janie Chang has been on my to-buy list since it came out and I finally got around to purchasing a copy. This historical fiction book is based on true events from the second Sino-Japanese war) and mixes in Chinese folklore, as a group of university students are entrusted to protect a priceless treasure: a 500-year-old collection of myths and folklore known as the Library of Legends. As the group travels with the book across China, they awaken immortals and guardians spirits AND I AM HERE FOR THAT!! Honestly sounds incredible and I can’t wait to read it. (Plus the cover is stunning)

Do you have a favorite flower or plant? I used to have favorites. I used to be obsessed with Daisies, and then later obsessed with Calla Lillies (my wedding bouquet was Calla Lillies!) Now I just love them all!

My mom is an epic gardener and she’s the one who really taught me to take joy in plants and cultivating them. I think that’s why I saved this book for Mother’s Day because it reminds me of her and this is the kind of book she’d love! The synopsis for “The Garden in Every Sense and Season” by Tovah Martin states that it “urges you to revel in what you’ve created” and explores Martin’s garden using the five senses and I just feel like my mom and her would get along great.  What does being a book nerd mean to you? To me it means I

Have you ever had your fortune told? Tarot cards, palm reading, had your leaves read? (Or some other type of divination?) How did that experience go? When I was in the 9th grade, I was at a friend’s house and her mom read my palm. I don’t actually remember much of what she said, but she did say that she could tell I was a very passionate person. .

☕️ I find that my attitude towards divination has changed a lot over the years. The whole thing used to freak me out, but the older I get the less afraid I am and the more I’m completely interested in learning the details and history. (Although the last time I had a legit nightmare was when I was in the middle of reading The Raven Cycle. I woke up the next morning and almost threw my tarot deck collection in the garbage just to get them out of the house. Haha) I’ve had many friends tell me about some really cool experiences they have had, and I figure that one of these days I’m going to have to take my turn. .

☕️ I’m super drawn to books that have divination as a theme or a small role. Some of my favorites are: Outlander, The Night Circus, The Starless Sea, The Raven Cycle, City of Bones, and The Fascinators. Do you have any favorites that I need to add to my 2020 TBR? (I read “The Leaf Reader” when it released in 2017, and I enjoyed this super short read because the main character explains the symbols and how leaf reading is done. For this community, it’s pretty normal to have monthly reading goals— but now that I have a new reader we’ve been trying to come up with some fun ways to keep up enthusiasm while school is out. My daughter has had a reading log for years that we filled out as a family, but this is her first summer with her own. My girl loves to watch TV and we normally do our family reading together in the evening, so this summer she’s got to read in the day time on her own (or to me) to earn TV time. Between her reading log and the fun activities that the library has planned all summer, I’m hoping she’ll have some joyful reading experiences. .

We have been reading the Serafina series together to prepare for the new book (Serafina and the Seven Stars) that comes out in July. We did book one via audio from the library while we were in the car or coloring, and have started book two by reading aloud a few chapters at bed time. I’m not sure if we’ll finish the full series together by the end of summer, but we definitely will some time before the year is up. This book right here was my kind of T from the beginning. I was so entertained with it. The characters were well written and the story kept me turning the pages. HOWEVER, here is my problem with it, the ending was like 😢😑😑😖. Girrrrrrrlllll, im confused 😐 and I really don’t know what to say because why would an author ever end a book like that. It was so strong throughout the entire novel but the ending was so like meh. Like I was just like really? I wanted more and I didn’t get it. I’m really confused with it and I need some explanations. I guess the writer wanted the readers to just make their own conclusions and I didn’t like that. All in all, I was really really disappointed with it because in the back it was compared to Gone Girl and that is why I wanted to read it tbh. But it just fell to the ground. If you read this, what were your opinions on it? .

The Good Lord Bird was a funny, powerful, and emotional read with characters that were both entertaining and interesting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. And now for the best book I literally have read this year. Song of Achilles was a masterpiece it was really, really, really f-ing good. I would recommend this book to everyone in bookstagram if you have not read it already. Heyyyyyyy Guys, sorry for the absence from posting. I have been really stress with my final days of school, but I have been reading don’t get me wrong. So, during these days I read The Balcony by Jane Delury, and I got to say that I liked it a lot. This novel feels like a breath of fresh air when reading. I read it so slowly because I didn’t want it to end and I’m still going back to really catch every single detail of this novel. When reading this novel you will get that sense of a classic. And I love classics for real.

Heyyyyyyy Guys, this was the second novel I read this past weekend. And I got say that I wanted to really like this novel since the synopsis was popping. However, I did not fall in love with this book. I have to admit that I was having some problems while reading this one. It was a good story and all but I just could not relate. This was a twisted, haunting, and dark dark DARK book. It was just an OK book for me, it wasn’t boring but I felt weird about it. Overall, I was just was not feeling the gig honey.
