✨Review✨ Ninth House ~ Leigh Bardugo Am I… a fantasy lover now?! I’m not gonna lie, I really had no idea what was happening for most of this (this isn’t a critique of the book, I can’t visualise so this happens in pretty much anything plot driven that I read). But I loved it! I need the second one, like NEED IT. Take me to hell please @lbardugo 🙊🔥 I think I liked this because you can see it happening, it’s magic based. There’s no weirdly spelt fairies. Or monsters. Only human monsters playing with things they probably shouldn’t. Not that there’s anything wrong with those things but I need to be eased in, I’m still a baby fantasy dabbler. I really loved Alex as the main character, and what was even better was the strong female supports. AND EVEN BETTER there was no romance, I hate romance so this worked for me. If you’re into smutty fantasy, you do you, but you won’t find it here! It’s a chunky one that throws you into the middle of the secret societies of Yale and there’s no real world building basis, the world unfolds as you go through the book. The unfolding narrative really adds to the suspense, tension, and mystery. It switches between past and present as you find out about societies and the characters pasts. Anyway, I loved it. I would recommend if you’re starting a fantasy reading journey, or to anyone who loves fantasy and wants a good plot and character story. Shoutout to @brookeisreading for organising this buddy read. Anyone got anymore adult fantasy recommendations for me? Because I’m on board this train 🚂 CW: violence, death, drug use [ID: Ninth House sits on a brown couch, there’s a white hand on the right hand side holding it. Maddie is wearing black trackies and theres a leg on the left side and I’m also wearing khaki bed socks]
