🌱 Book review! 🌱 Persuasion by Jane Austen Another Jane Austen novel I’ve enjoyed! Austen is an amazing writer, I could totally picture everything in my head as I read. The protagonist Anne is one of Austen’s older and mature female heroines and there’s some truly awful characters in this book. Austen utilizes themes of feminism, class/rank, family, and freedom of choice. I’m not a romance reader but the romances I do enjoy are Austen’s novels. This one started off a little odd, there didn’t seem to be enough tension or connection between the lovers until the very end. I LOVED the end though, I don’t want to spoil it but it was one of the most romantic things I’ve read in a while and even made me get teary eyed! I still think I prefer Sense and Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice but enjoyed this one more than Northanger Abbey. My favorite quote: “If he really sought to reconcile himself like a dutiful branch, he must be forgiven for having dismembered himself from the paternal tree.” What is your favorite classic novel? If you don’t read classics, what are your plans for the weekend?
