Heyyyyyyyyy Henny, Happy Friday! Today I finished Sigrid Nunez’s “A Feather on the Breath of God” so I thought I would share some quick thoughts. I loved this book! As always Nunez’s writing is honestly one of the best out here today. Her prose is unique and fresh without being too flattery. She does this thing of mixing in social criticism into the prose that I can’t get enough of. It gives so much life to not only the story but also the incredible narrators that take center stage in her books. I’m obsessed. In her debut novel, Nunez tackles immigration with the utmost care. Originally published in 1995, Nunez does what authors today want to do with their immigration novels. She doesn’t romanticize immigration which I loved and want to see more of in contemporary literature. When we talk about the immigrant literary canon I only hope that this one gets included in the conversation. Give this one a read if you can. This is officially a stan Sigrid Nuñez account 😆. Also if you are expecting a plot driven story this is not it. Just had to put that out there lol 😂. Other than that, if you have read this one let me know down below so we can talk! But if you haven’t I would love your opinions on Sigrid Nuñez.
