Do you like dark and unsettling stories? ( #penguinteenpartner @penguinteen ) When you use the word “horror”, it’s an immediate no from me. But when House of Hollow promises things like “dark fairytale” or “Midsummer” I’m so intrigued! I’ve had some low-key horror snuck into my reading because of these words. 😂 Do I regret it when I’m creeped out on my way to take my trash can to the curb at night? Some times. 😂 Today we are officially one month away from the release of #HouseofHollow by @km _sutherland (out April 6) and I can’t tell you how delightful it was to take this beauty out into my fully blooming neighborhood and take some pictures. I’ve got this on my March TBR, so my review is to come, but I have the synopsis down below and a link in my bio if you want to read more about it! Has “House of Hollow” been on your 2021 radar? It sounds dark and mysterious and full of magic (and I’m wondering how creeped out I’ll be 😂😂) Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Iris Hollow has always been strange. Something happened to her and her two older sisters when they were children, something they can’t quite remember but that left each of them with an identical half-moon scar at the base of their throats. Iris has spent most of her teenage years trying to avoid the weirdness that sticks to her like tar. But when her eldest sister, Grey, goes missing under suspicious circumstances, Iris learns just how weird her life can get: horned men start shadowing her, a corpse falls out of her sister’s ceiling, and ugly, impossible memories start to twist their way to the forefront of her mind. As Iris retraces Grey’s last known footsteps and follows the increasingly bizarre trail of breadcrumbs she left behind, it becomes apparent that the only way to save her sister is to decipher the mystery of what happened to them as children. The closer Iris gets to the truth, the closer she comes to understanding that the answer is dark and dangerous – and that Grey has been keeping a terrible secret from her for years. #krystalsutherland #fairytale #bookcover #totalbooknerd #flowerstagram #springhassprung #bookphotography #photooftheday
