How do you show support for something you believe in? (3/3/2021, 6:34:09 PM
How do you show support for something you believe in? ( #Netflixpartner ) I’ve always been the type to write to my representatives, donate, or boycott something when I felt the need came up. But I very rarely had discussions about those things or even thought of them much after I’d done my piece. I’ve really been learning that I am capable, and should be, doing more. One thing last year really woke up me to was the fact that I need to be actively engaged in standing up for change. I remember when the book “Moxie” by Jennifer Mathieu came out and I was excited to be able to watch the film early last night. One of my biggest takeaways from the film was that on your journey to learning how to speak out and stand up for something, you’re going to make a lot of mistakes and there will always be people or things blocking your way. The point is to keep learning with intention, to keep trying, keep listening and course correcting, and to keep supporting each other. I think this resonated the most with me because this is what I keep telling myself— I’m going to make mistakes, don’t let it stop me from finding my way forward. I thought the film made a good jumping point for topics like protesting, feminism, and race and made space to expand many of the conversations that the film started! Show your “Hearts and Stars” (drawn on your hand like in the film) and use the hashtag #MOXIEGirlsFightBack to share what you stand up for and believe in.
