Heyyyyyyyyy Henny, yesterday I shared one of my reading

Heyyyyyyyyy Henny, yesterday I shared one of my reading goals for 2021 and I promised to continue sharing what I’m hoping to accomplish in this new year in regards to reading. My second reading goal for this new year is to at least read 10 books in Spanish. I know I only have 7 Spanish books in my hands right now but I’m honestly hoping to at least read one Spanish book per month. Although my Spanish is not that horrible (I can speak it and read it) in the past few years I’ve been slowly disassociating myself from the language that I grew up with. I’m finding myself not knowing how to freely express my thoughts without having an English word or two in a sentence. Understandably, as an immigrant from a non-English speaking country, my parents instantly pushed me to learn English when I came here. What time eventually showed was that I was slowly forgetting my first language. One question that is often asked in my family circle is, do think in Spanish or English? I have always responded, my thoughts are in English and I can’t remember a time when it was ever in Spanish. Truthfully, thinking in Spanish hurts my brain. But today more than ever I want to find a balance between the two languages without having that strict English barrier that doesn’t let me freely express my thoughts in Spanish. Thereby, I’m turning to books to help me regain a piece of me that I have lost. If you noticed, I’m trying to stay in the realm of books written in Spanish not translated to Spanish. I want to see the power behind the Spanish language without the translator. I want the 100 percent authentic language. So I’m beginning with Balaño and Marquez to help me. I couldn’t be more excited about this project and will keep all of you updated on my progress. Other than that, I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!! Let me know down below what other Spanish books (not translated) I should tackle this year. 🥰💕
