Heyyyyyyyyy Henny, Happy Tuesday or whateva. Yesterday while I was making my way through this other book that was making me fall asleep, I got the urge to pick up something that was going to knock me the fuck out. So I picked up Beloved by mother dearest Toni Morrison and wow just wow. I’m not going to lie, I was a little skeptical picking this book up because a lot of bookstagramers were saying, “oh this was a hard book to understand.” Well, I’m 125 pages in and I’m not bothered lol 😂. Yes, the book is written in a stream of consciousness format and I can see why people describe this book as a “difficult read.” But for me, I think I’ve gotten used to the language and the writing of Morrison’s novels to the point of not really finding any difficulties. No, you can’t read this book in one sitting. There are a lot of things that need to be dissected. Morrison is the type of writer that is very purposeful with her books, so everything has a meaning. And when you do find those meanings your reading experience goes to a whole new level that is super rewarding. Nevertheless, my Morrison journey is still poppin and I’m here enjoying the ride *tongue pop.* Have you read Beloved? What was your experience like with it? Also please don’t spoil the book 😆😆❤️❤️
