Do you have a dream job? Or maybe something that you could see yourself doing in an alternate life? Mine usually comes down to something that has to do with food. ha. I always want to be a master dessert maker— someone who makes those intricate and amazing desserts to 20 foot tall wedding cakes shaped like a castle. . I’m finally getting to “Thorn” by Intisar Khanani— the story of a princess who embraces an opportunity to start a new life for herself as a goose girl. I’ve been putting off since March. (Because of my quarantine reading slump) I was considering reading “Goose Girl” first, as this is a retelling of that story (honestly feel like I should have read “Goose Girl” by now anyway) but I decided that I’ll just go for it and get to “Goose Girl” later. I read someone’s review that was a little more spoilery than I would have liked, but it got me excited. haha. They mentioned that the romance is more backseat to the story, which I like. So we shall see! I can’t wait to dive in. Have you read “Thorn” or “Goose Girl”? . Synopsis: Between her cruel family and the contempt she faces at court, Princess Alyrra has always longed to escape the confines of her royal life. But when she’s betrothed to the powerful prince Kestrin, Alyrra embarks on a journey to his land with little hope for a better future. When a mysterious and terrifying sorceress robs Alyrra of both her identity and her role as princess, Alyrra seizes the opportunity to start a new life for herself as a goose girl. But Alyrra soon finds that Kestrin is not what she expected. The more Alyrra learns of this new kingdom, the pain and suffering its people endure, as well as the danger facing Kestrin from the sorceress herself, the more she knows she can’t remain the goose girl forever. With the fate of the kingdom at stake, Alyrra is caught between two worlds and ultimately must decide who she is, and what she stands for. . #thorn #intisarkhanani #goosegirl #retelling #maps #amreading #tbr #yalit
