Have you ever been in a position where you felt like you COULDN’T forgive someone? (I’m not just talking about real people. There are some book characters and authors I’ll never forgive. haha.) This has happened to me a couple times in my life and it took me literal years to get over some of the situations. As for Amy March burning Jo’s book? Yeah, I’ll never forgive that. ever. (Also harboring some hard feelings for the way Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo ended, but maybe because that story line has continued with King of Scars I’ve been working through it.) . ☕️ Thank you to @scribnerbooks for gifting me this paperback copy of “Ask Again, Yes” by Mary Beth Keane. I saw this book around often on Bookstagram last year but I actually never learned what it was about. I finally read the synopsis and knew I would have to read it. Forgiveness, loyalty, and family are three themes that I think about a lot. In my books, admittedly, I prefer revenge to forgiveness. But Ioyalty is aways huge for me, and I’m due for a contemporary adult read soon. The reviews on this family drama are very high so I’m looking forward to it being a great read! Have you read it? . ☕️ Synopsis: Francis Gleeson and Brian Stanhope, rookie NYPD cops, are neighbors in the suburbs. What happens behind closed doors in both houses—the loneliness of Francis’s wife, Lena, and the instability of Brian’s wife, Anne, sets the stage for the explosive events to come. In Mary Beth Keane's extraordinary novel, a lifelong friendship and love blossoms between Kate Gleeson and Peter Stanhope, born six months apart. One shocking night their loyalties are divided, and their bond will be tested again and again over the next thirty years. Heartbreaking and redemptive, Ask Again, Yes is a gorgeous and generous portrait of the daily intimacies of marriage and the power of forgiveness. . ☕️ #askagainyes #marybethkeane #familydrama #onthebed #hygge #cosyvibes #everysquareastory #readreadread #lovetoread #readergram
