“It is a good rule after reading a new book, never to allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one in between.” — CS Lewis . This is a rule I’ve been trying to take to heart this year. (Not very well, but I’ve still read 23 books this year that have been on my bookshelf for longer than a year and it feels good). I know a lot of you are similarly trying to read older books this year. What was the last “old” book you’ve read? . Even though Holly Black’s “Modern Faerie Tales” books got an updated look, the first book came out in 2002 (the last in 2007) and I believe are her first published works. (Thank you to @simonteen for gifting me this copy) I think it’s nice that some publishers are repackaging and bringing back earlier works for some authors lately. . Modern Faerie Tales contains a duology and a companion novel (so this is three books bound together in one). I’ve only read a small handful of Holly Black’s work (my first being the Spiderwick Chronicles) and while they’ve been a bit hit and miss for me, I’ve enjoyed them enough to continue to read her work to see what she’s got up her sleeve. The repackaging of these books made me look up other books of hers and realize she’s got over 15 books out! In turn that also reminded me that I’ve been wanting to read The Magisterium Books she wrote with Cassandra Clare. So many books! I wish I could read faster! . #hollyblack #tithe #valiant #ironside #moderfaerietales #newcover #faerietales
