What’s your least favorite trope? There are a lot of tropes

What’s your least favorite trope? There are a lot of tropes I love (Chosen One, I’m here for it) but you serve me a love triangle and 9 out of 10 times I’m out. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️💀 . That being said, “Ash Princess” delivered such a complicated love triangle, with such interesting stakes, that I set all my love triangle prejudice aside and set to turning pages. . Synopsis wise, this sounds like plenty of other stories where a princess is fighting for the crown. But I’d heard from a few reviewers with similar reading taste to mine that they really enjoyed this one, so I went out and bought myself a copy. . At the age of six (this is my daughter’s age so this story truly brutalized my heart) Theodosia witnessed the murder of her mother, the Queen of Flame and Fury. Now, ten years later and trained to accept her prison and make herself small as the “Ash Princess” something happens that shakes and wakes her to plan for her revenge. . I just finished reading “A Reaper at the Gates” by Sabaa Tahir and it dawned on me that “Ash Princess” reminded me a bit of that series when it comes to the stakes. So if you liked “An Ember in the Ashes” you might like this one. I liked watching Theo’s character arc, the evolution of ALL relationships, and the different stakes in this story. We don’t get too much of the magic that gets established, so I’m looking forward to getting into that more in the next book. I’ve already purchased a copy of “Lady Smoke” and am also excited because that title has so many implications based on how the book ended. I’m not going to read the synopsis for clues either! . I was definitely surprised at how much I ended up enjoying this one, and hats off to making me read a love triangle 😂 . #ashPrincess #ladysmoke #laurasebastian #bookreview #flatlay #yabooks #yafantasy #fromabove #booksbooksbooks #amreading #lovetriangle #bookstagrammer #booknerdigans #booklove
