Name one thing (or honestly, however many you want) that inspires you. For me: Instrumental music (usually film scores), Chef’s Table Netflix show, and many book characters/authors. . These books/editions are part of @gibbssmithbooks new “Women’s Voices” collection— written by, and for, extraordinary women— to encourage, challenge, and inspire. Huge thank you to them for gifting three of the books from that collection. (When they are set side by side on the shelf, the art on their spines connect!) . I have always admired the people who who have done/are doing things that are pushing the world to be better, and when you think about when these books were published, you really have to tip your hat to these writers! Hearing their stories and then reading their work is what continues to inspire me to go out and get work done. . The Feminist Papers: A Vindication Of The Rights of Women: “by the matriarch of feminism, Mary Wollstonecraft tackles women’s-rights-as-human-rights decades before the women’s suffrage movement began. . Hope Is The Thing With Feathers: The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson: “Scorned by the conventions of her day in her approach to writing, religion, and society. HOPE is a collection of her vast archive of poetry to inspire the writers, creatives, and feminists of today.” . Jane Eyre: “Assertive and passionate heroine, whose search for belonging and freedom, while radical at the time of publication, remains refreshingly relevant for the modern-day reader.”
