What stereotype did you fall under when you were in high2/15/2021, 6:55:35 PM
What stereotype did you fall under when you were in high school. (Or maybe you’re in high school now) . I would probably be classified as a band nerd out of all the things I did because I spent most my time in the band room. (I played saxophone and clarinet in three different school bands—pep, symphonic, jazz— and spent five or six hours a day practicing.) . Today I’m unboxing my January @parnassusnext “The Field Guide to the North American Teenager”, where Norris Kaplan, a Black French Canadian, has just moved to Austin, Texas and finds himself cataloging everyone he meets into a stereotype: Cheerleaders, Jocks, Loners, Manic Pixie Dream Girls… but he against all odds the people he categorizes start to become real people to him and his snarky opinions really get him into trouble. . I think we’d all agree that we were/are way more than what we may have been stereotyped as— and I hear this book is pretty hilarious, so I’m looking forward to trying it. . If you don’t know about Parnassus Next, it’s a YA subscription box that sends out a signed first edition every month. (the author goes into the Parnassus book store and signs each book!) Some times there is a little extra included in each box, but this is for people who are looking for just a signed first edition of a great book. Parnassus reveals the book about two weeks before shipping so you never miss the books that you really want! I have enjoyed being a rep for them because they always include an amazing read.
