I’m keeping on top of my goal of reading ALL my subscription box books as soon as they arrive, and this one came exactly when I needed it. . “Suitors and Sabatoge” was @litjoycrate ’s April book pick and I ate this one up in less than 24 hours. I’d categorize it in the same lane as “My Lady Jane” humor and levity wise. I read this when I was starting to feel better after coming out of the hospital last week and it really gave me some good laughs. . In short, this book follows shy and artistically inclined Imogene Chively who has just come off a successful Season in London with a charming suitor (Ernest) ready to visit her at her estate to get to know each other better and seal the deal. But when her suitor arrives, he’s brought his younger brother (Ben)… and well, Imogene finds that her heart might be turning towards him instead. Between all the mixed feelings, it starts to become apparent that someone has it out for Ben and everywhere he goes, accidents start to happen. (cue dramatic mysterious music) . This book is sweet and funny and charming, and I enjoyed all of the characters. I have to admit that it took me longer to figure out the mystery than I thought. I thought I had it worked out until the answer was nearly on top of me. If you’re a fan of Regency-era stories and romance, a little bump of girl power, and also want something that’s fun and easy to read, I definitely recommend this one. The whole book takes places in the summer and the countryside, making it a really perfect summer read too. . I came out of this book with a few little bits about side characters that I’m hoping to discuss with others in the LitJoy book club. I’m coming to realize that I don’t mind reading a romanic themed novel if it’s more comedy than super serious burning desires. haha. . What are you guys reading today? Anyone already read this? What did you think? . #suitorsandsabatoge #cindyanstey #litjoycrate #bookreview #amreading
