Well, I finally got myself sick enough to land myself in the hospital for a couple hours the other day, but I’m on the mend and doing much much better. So excuse the photo repost, but I wanted to celebrate “We Are Okay” winning the Printz Award since I saw Nina LaCour this week, and just couldn’t rephotograph today. (I’m probably going to need to buy the new book with the Printz gold seal on it now!) . This week I went to celebrate the release of “Stay Sweet” by @siobhanvivian and she was joined in conversation with @ninalacour . It just reminded me all over again why I loved “We Are Okay” and why it was in my top 10 of 2017. I loved listening to them both talk about how they came to write their characters and books, and how genuine they both are. . Here are three lessons I learned from “We Are Okay” ✨ 📌Lesson One: Certain kinds of love can really save someone. Other kinds of love cannot fix or erase your problems. . 📌Lesson Two: Confront what scares, embarrasses, angers etc you with as much honestly as you can muster. 📌Lesson Three: Just ask! (When Marin asks the shop keeper if she's hiring just because she loves the shop so much, this inspired me to go out on a limb for the things I want to do.) . If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend! (Shout out to “Long Way Down” by Jason Reynolds, “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas, “Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor, and “Vincent and Theo: The Vangough Brothers bye Deborah Heiligman for behind honor book titles for the Printz Award) . What are some life lessons that you have learned from books? . #weareokay #ninalacour #printzaward #ireadya #bookflatlay
