Good morning and happy Monday! I feel like I’ve been off course since April started for a number of reasons, and now that I finally feel like I’ve got my act together, I’m looking forward to a fresh new week! . Today I’m participating in the blog tour for “The Lemonade Year” by Amy Willoughby-Burle. (synopsis in comments) With the number of lemons coming off my tree, I have to admit that I was drawn to this book mostly because I feel like lemons are so much a part of my life right now. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️🍋 . I don’t normally read a lot of women’s fiction, but lately I’m finding that every now and then reading a contemporary book with universally relatable situations like relationship and family dynamics or feelings has been therapeutic for me. (I’m not sure if therapeutic is the right umbrella term, but I have enjoyed that feeling of solidarity.) There is just something different about reading those situations in a familiar setting that tends to hit me harder than a similar situation in a fantasy novel. (Doesn’t mean it doesn’t hit me in fantasy, it’s just different relating to a world that looks more like mine.) . Do you have times like that? Where you want to pick up a book that you find familiar situations or relatable feelings? Or do you prefer to stick with books that allow you to escape anything that might resemble your real life? . #thelemonadeyear #amywilloughbyburle #lemons #womensfiction
