This review was hard for me to write because I don’t

This review was hard for me to write because I don’t usually write a review for a book that really wasn’t for me. I didn’t realize that this one was going to be a romance when I started it, and as someone who doesn’t read romance I don’t feel qualified, as my personal preferences and expectations for a story or plot are quite different from what the romance community expects. . So why am I reviewing then? Because even as my heart turned into stone at the romantic and cliche dialogue😂🤷🏻‍♀️🙈, and even though I had a personal big beef with a big plot point in the story… There IS something to be said about a story that focuses on hope and romance in a dark time. And I think if you’re someone who wants to read about this time in history (WWII) but you’re looking for something that isn’t too heavy or graphic, but emotionally stirring—and you like reading romance stories, I do think this one might be for you. So I felt like I had to put this out there, because as I closed it, I could think of a dozen people I would recommend this book. . I originally picked this one up because it was compared to “The Nightingale” and “The Lilac Girls”, two books which have made a deep impact on me. I understand the comparison, as these stories are all about women who bravely risk their lives in the war effort and to save lives. For ME, this one just didn’t draw that much response from me. . It’s a very sweet romance story unfolding over dark times, and it was interesting to think about the message of purpose in life, fate, and timing—all the roads in our lives that bring us to where we are. I’m also for anything that inspires strength, action, and bravery. So even if this one didn’t hit my reading preference, I’m talking about it today because I think there will be plenty of you that will enjoy this one. And on that note, I’m happy to spread the word. (full synopsis in comments) . What are some genres that you have a hard time getting into? . #roomonrueamelie #WWII #romancenovel #historicalfiction #kristinharmel
