Good morning! I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had a wonderful day yesterday. I took a two day posting break and had a wonderful time spending the holiday with my family. But today’s it’s back to business for us as we prepare to ring in the New Year! . I have been seeing “The Midnight Dance” all over Instagram, and if the cover wasn’t enough to grab me, the synopsis is. I don’t know why the dark ballerina tale is intriguing to me, but it always is. It sounds a bit like a twist on the Phantom of the Opera/Swan Lake. Thank you to @swoonreads for sending me this review copy. . The reviews on this one seem to be super mixed so I’m curious as to where I’ll land on the rating scale. Some people are loving it and some people have DNF’d pretty quickly based on the reviews I’ve seen on Goodreads. (Synopsis below) Have you read it? Can you give any spoiler free opinions? Also, did you get anything you really really wanted for Christmas? (I already showed in my stories, but I got several books/collectors editions I have been really wanting!) . Synopsis: Set against the fascinating and moody backdrop of a mysterious boarding school, this intricately crafted novel is filled with magical realism, gothic settings, and the perfect hint of romance. Seventeen-year-old Penny is a lead dancer at the Grande Teatro, a finishing school where she and eleven other young women are training to become the finest ballerinas in Italy. Tucked deep in the woods, the school is overseen by the mysterious and handsome young Master, who keeps the girls ensconced in the estate – and in the only life Penny has ever known. But when flashes of memories – memories of a life very different from the one she thinks she’s been leading – start to appear, Penny begins to question the Grande Teatro and the motivations of Master. With a kind and attractive kitchen boy, Cricket, at her side, Penny vows to escape the confines of her school and the strict rules that dictate every step she takes. But at every turn, Master finds a way to stop her, and Penny must uncover the secrets of her past before it’s too late.
