Happy #NationalReadABookDay ! I feel like this is every day around here, right? ha. . I thought it would be a good day to highlight some of the benefits of reading! (I went poking around the internet to find some good ones to share, so these tips come from various websites.) . 📕Mental Stimulation: Staying mentally stimulated can slow the progress (or possibly prevent) Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Reading keeps your brain active and engaged. (doing puzzles and other games like chess have also been found helpful) . 📗Knowledge: I feel like this is the most obvious. No matter what genres you read, there is so much you can learn from books and stories. . 📘Vocabulary Expansion: Funny story, when I was a kid I used to use bigger or out-of-norm words correctly all the time and I didn’t even know what they meant. I just recalled characters in books using them at similar times and I used them too. haha. . 📙Stronger Analytical Thinking Skills: from solving crimes in a mystery, to analyzing details for a review, the more you read, the quicker and better you become at these things. . There are loads of benefits to read. Like JUST PLAIN ENTERTAINMENT! That’s first and foremost why I read. I’m not reading with the thought of my mental stimulation or analytical thinking skill improvement weighing on my mind. But I had found that being among readers is often my favorite place to be for the conversation, the empathy, and someone to understand my fictional relationship with my fictional boyfriend. . What are some of the reasons you read? Or what are some other benefits to reading you have noticed! .
