When Dimple Met Rishi: 4/5 Stars . I know this book doesn’t come out until May, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share my review. . You know how everyone is like “Omg, ‘When Dimple Met Rishi’ is so cute?” And hype blah hype blah hype? I was almost reluctant to pick it up because, you know how it goes with hyped books… BUT THIS BOOK IS SO CUTE! . I ended up blowing through this book in two sittings. I just couldn’t put it down and kept making up excuses to continue reading instead of going to bed. Yeah, it’s super cliche and you know how it’s going to end after the first chapter, but for me it just has that “thing”. That thing that made me keep smiling and flipping pages. . I loved all the references to tradition and culture, that are different in every country yet the feelings of responsibility, love, and community seem to be similar in most places. I also related a lot to Dimple, who felt like she didn’t quite fit in America or India. Too Indian to be American and too American to be Indian. I have some times felt this exact same way with my Japanese upbringing depending on who I’m hanging out with and what holiday it is. . Rishi and Dimple show two opposite views on keeping tradition and I enjoyed reading their interactions with each other. Rishi was my favorite character to read and I loved and admired him so much. . I think my only problem with the book is that in my opinion Dimple and Rishi maneuvered drama really well, so when some major drama hit, I thought they both handled it uncharacteristically just for the sake of moving the story in a certain direction. Or maybe I’m just over headstrong teenage anger??? . This is a super easy and quick read which I think is perfect for vacations and summer. So if you’re looking for a trope heavy “rom-com” that is absolutely adorable, I’m recommending this to everyone!
