Non-bookish post today for a good cause! Some college students at Liberty University contacted me recently and asked if they could send me one of their hats in exchange for some help spreading the word on their mission: to give a hat to every child battling cancer in America and support the fight against pediatric cancer. . “Love Your Melon” ( @lym _lu and @loveyourmelon ) was founded in 2012 in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. After donating 45,000 hats—one for every child battling cancer in America—Love Your Melon set a new goal of donating one million dollars to pediatric cancer research and providing immediate support to children and their families (from their website) . Fifty percent of the profit from Love Your Melon products are given to their nonprofit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer. Those partners work in the field of pediatric oncology, fund cancer research initiatives and provide immediate support for families of children battling cancer. . To date 1.5 million dollars and over 80,000 hats have been donated and they aren’t stopping. . I love how this one idea has grown to achieve so much good for a worthy cause! . Also, this hat is the nicest hat I own. It’s thick, soft, and well-made. Perfect for the precious heads they were initially designed for, and amazing for anyone else to wear. But they also sell a wide variety of hats (their wool felt floppy hats have all my heart eyes) shirts, leggings, necklaces, bags, pouches, mugs, phone cases… you get the idea. There is a lot of stuff! So go check it out. (there is also a place on their website that you can request a hat for a child suffering from cancer.) . Since we’re spreading some love today, lets fill up the comments with goodness. Say or name one great thing that has made your life happier or better!
