What rules did your parents set for you when it came/comes to dating? My parents wanted me to go to school dances with someone different every time. They didn’t want me to get into serious relationships in high school and wanted me to date and get to know a bunch of different kinds of guys. Which is something I (much) later appreciated. . It can some times be tricky when it comes to dating. Especially if your parents want you to stick to a specific religious or ethnic group. In a lot of ways it can make your life easier to date and marry someone who you can relate to in those areas, but the heart is also tricky beast. And in “Frankly in Love” Franky Li is a Korean-American kid caught between his parents traditional expectations of him and his own Southern California upbringing. His parents one rule? Date Korean. And that’s a complication for Frank when he falls for the smart, beautiful, and white, Brit Means. So Frank and his fellow Korean-American friend Joy decide to pretend to date each other to gain their freedom from their parents, which is the perfect plan…until Frank begins to wonder if he ever really understood love or himself at all. . Do you have any rules you think you’ll have (or already do have) for your own kids when they start dating? . #franklyinlove #davidyoon #onthebed
