Ratchet Review: What can I say about my baby daddy Colson Whitehead? 🧐 Henny he has done it again, that’s all you need to know peridoottt Omg talk about a story that is just brilliant and just extremely out of this world amazing. I haven’t said this in a review recently but this book took me to Jupiter bitch and I loved that ride so much. Whitehead’s prose is so delicious, I ate that shit up and Henny I can’t deny that I was full when I finished. Colson Whitehead has this way of writing that almost feels like you are watching a movie, his characters are so life like and feel so familiar to the reader. It’s just incredible how an author can do so much with just over 200 pages. Some of these wannabe authors need to take some notes because Colson Whitehead is just a master at creating a story that is simplified and just powerful. I remember being shook when I finished The Underground Railroad two years ago and I also remember wanting more. In The Nickel Boys, Whitehead does not disappoint and shows you why he won that Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He is just the plain tea Henny! This book will have you crying, hopeful, scared, thrilled, and most importantly SHOOK! That ending was just perfection, the way he led up and wrapped everything was just, damn wtf. I didn’t see that ending coming but it felt so real to me after thinking about it for a few days. This is not just another book based on the Jim Crow years, but a book/story that is equally important today. Faulkner says, “the past is never dead. It’s not even past.” This is all I kept thinking while reading this book. If you want to be blessed and see true story telling at its best please pick this one up, it doesn’t matter if you’re a thriller fanatic or a romance reader this book will move you to your core peridottttttttt!! Have you read this? Are you planning to read this? Is it in your TBR? Come talk with me. ❤️
