Heyyyyyyyyyy Henny, welcome back to my channel!! (Let me stop 😂). So for day 34567 of quarantine I wanted to review The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich which I think it’s out now🤔 . But let me tell you about it because I think this was a popping novel. I will say that the first 100 pages are really slow and hard to get into but once you get past those pages this book takes off and never lets you go. Louise Erdrich prose is probably one of the best I’ve ever read and in this book, she delivers great writing as I’ve never seen before. The way she manages to blend all the characters in this novel to create a flawless story based on her grandfather’s life in the 1950s is outstanding and definitely deserves a standing ovation. Even though there was a lot going on at the same time, it’s very easy to keep up because of that stunning prose. It’s quite impressive if you ask me. Moreover, apart from the great story, I did learn a lot from reading this in regards to the Native American community and the many struggles that they faced and still continue to face today (Erdrich also includes an author’s note that is so informative and important in the end). Everything from the culture to the history of Native Americans in this country, Erdrich includes all of this to tell a story that shouldn’t be forgotten. Trust and believe that this will not be my last Erdrich book. All in all, I really do recommend reading this if you are looking into books based on the Native American community. It’s so important to diversify our shelf, as a reader I’m always looking for books that are outside my community and culture. I highly urge everyone to do this as well if you haven’t. The real tea is that I have found that I liked these kinds of books more, so please challenge how you read, you won’t regret it. Other than that, have you read books written by Indigenous voices? Which ones do you recommend? Let me know down below! Also, stay safe 🥰 Thank you @harperbooks for the Advance Reader’s Copy of this marvelous book. #partner
