I didn’t set a TBR list for June since I’ll be out of town for bit and never read well on vacation. But then I saw how much Sharon ( @Bookishgirl89 ) was loving Susan Ee’s “Penryn and the End of Days” trilogy (not to mention countless others talking about it since the last book, “End of Days" came out last month) so I picked it up and it’s awesome. Kind of like Twilight goes Dystopian, with a dash of zombie apocalypse feel. . Seventeen year old Penryn, her crazy (like literal crazy) mom, and seven year old, wheelchair bound sister, Paige live in California barely surviving the ruin of the World. It’s only been six weeks since the Angels came to Earth, but when they came, they savaged it. Entire cities around the world are nothing but rubble, and the people are nearly exterminated. It’s during their escape to the hills, an attempt to get away from the gangs, that they run into a group of Angels that take Paige. . Penryn is determined to get her back, even if it means saving a cut down Angel, Raffe, from near death and working with him to get what they both want. But there is something more sinister going on, something worse than the deadly Angels, and Penryn and Raffe’s journey is far more dangerous than either of them anticipate. . This book was fast-paced, high tension, and super creepy. It’s not like anything I’ve been reading lately and I read the entire thing in a day because I couldn’t put it down. Susan Ee manages to make this super creepy without being too dark, which is good for wimps like me. Penryn is strong and independent in ways that aren’t annoying like other similar heroines and I think she’s going to be a top favorite for me. There is a very vague, underlying romance and I appreciate that this book isn’t about romance, it’s about action. 5/5 stars This pic is my attempt to bring Angelfall in a photo. Steak knives, cat food, top ramen, feathers, camping supplies… did I miss anything? haha. (Besides an Angel sword, which I obviously couldn't lift)
